Living in Hawaii, thousands of miles away from Virginia Beach where our son attends Regent Law School, posed a problem when we decided to purchase a home. It looked like a green light and open door with home prices being the lowest in a decade. Accompanying that was the extremely low interest rates. The major obstacle was the simple fact that we lived in Hawaii and some one else would have to be our ears and eyes. Of course our son was there to select the property.  That in itself was not enough. We needed someone with extensive experience in real estate who knew with certainty the laws that govern Virginia real estate.

Susan went far above and beyond our expectations. We hit road blocks with the bank who owned the property. Not a problem for Susan. She carefully worked through each one. Once those were under control, the lender decided the property needed additional repairs before they would fund the loan.  We all know that you cannot repair a home that you do not own. This was a huge problem, literally just three days before closing. After numerous e-mails back and forth with the lender, I threw my hands in the air not knowing if there was anything else to be done. I was upset.  Susan was a great listener and her depth of understanding of my frustration brought a calm that was necessary.

She was then able to brilliantly present option A, B, or C. That was a very ingenious way to bring me back to the table. My husband and I prayed over the options and decided to pursue the escrow hold back option. Susan was able to get the owner to raise the price of the home just enough to cover what the lender wanted for repairs and then put that money into escrow. Immediately the home closed.  We now own a home where our son resides less than two miles from the law school he attends. We could not have done it without Susan Jenkins. She was there for every question and concern. She promptly answered my phone calls and emails. I never felt like she was over extended. I always felt that she had time for me. Even after the closing! She came by the house and let us borrow tools and a ladder so we could begin the repairs. Now, that’s a Real Estate Agent!
